Chomps, the popular meat snacks brand, is expanding its investment in Beatrice, NE. In partnership with locally-owned Landmark Snacks, a wholly owned subsidiary of Chad and Courtney Lottman, Chomps is establishing a new 160,000-square-foot facility in Gage County Industrial Park. Landmark Snacks will build and operate the facility, while Chomps will supply some equipment and all raw materials for production. The new facility is expected to bring approximately 150 jobs to Beatrice and is scheduled to open in Q2 2027.
“Customers kept asking if we could make more,” says Chad Lottman, co-owner of Landmark Snacks and Gage Area Growth Enterprise (NGage) board member. “The growth in snack sticks has been tremendous and isn’t slowing down.”
And that’s true. Protein snack sales are expanding nearly three times faster than the overall snack industry, and Chomps is leading the charge. Increasingly, consumers are prioritizing protein-forward snacks on the go, and the production capacity afforded by the Beatrice expansion will meet this demand.
“The explosive growth we’ve experienced makes increasing our capacity not just a goal but an essential step to meet the continuous, high demand for Chomps,” said Rashid Ali, Chomps co-founder and CEO, in Chomps’ press release announcing the expansion. “This facility is a major strategic move that will allow us to scale with intention, supporting both sustained momentum and future innovation.”
Landmark Snacks began operating in Beatrice in 2016 and has continued to expand since. Their current facility now covers 87,000 square feet, employs over 300 people and will continue to remain fully functional and at full capacity in conjunction with the industrial park expansion. The expansion will be designed from the ground up with efficiency and food safety in mind, including better separation of raw and packaged production.
“These last 10 years have shown us Beatrice is a great place to do business,” says Lottman. “The city has been great, especially with Tax Increment Financing. The infrastructure is already in place — water, sewer, power — which makes the project much easier.”
Chomps sees benefits to this expansion in Beatrice, too. Beatrice’s easy access to I-80, the nation’s primary east-west corridor, means that Chomps snacks will be distributed more efficiently across the country. The area’s skilled labor force and Landmark Snacks’ established leadership and support will further reinforce production.
“Since we started production with Chomps, our company has been focused on a mutual goal: delivering high-quality snacks to consumers,” says Lottman. “We are excited to break ground on a facility that will be custom-built to Chomps’ rigorous specifications and to create significant new job opportunities in Beatrice.”
Construction on the Chomps-Landmark Snacks expansion is slated to begin later this spring.
NGage is thrilled to celebrate new and expanding businesses in Beatrice and looks forward to the continued success of Chomps and Landmark Snacks in the area.
