Homestead National Historic Park celebrates the reason Gage County was founded: the Homestead Act of 1862. Find the oldest restored tallgrass prairie in the country here. NGage recommends every Gage County resident visit the park for the rare opportunity to experience the challenges our ancestors overcame.
Completely free to the public, the Homestead National Historic Park gives Gage County residents and their guests the rare opportunity to step back in time. Tour buildings constructed centuries ago and wander through three miles of trails winding through the 100-care tallgrass prairie.
Visitors experience a taste of prairie life as they take in reconstructed homes and working buildings, where they see how much life has changed since our ancestors staked their claim in what is now Gage County.
The park rotates exhibits and events throughout the year—be sure to check the website to avoid missing them!
