Gage County Manufacturing Month Highlighted Our Strength as a County

Beatrice and Gage County are home to a diverse group of manufacturing companies, both homegrown and branches of large international firms. These companies are major employers, contributing to the strength of our economy while also creating opportunities for smaller companies and vendors to open up in the county. October was manufacturing month and an excellent time to highlight their contributions to our community.

Nebraska has a strong manufacturing sector

Manufacturing companies contribute over $14 billion to Nebraska’s annual GDP. “Manufacturers in our state support about 100,000 great-paying jobs. They grow Nebraska through their ingenuity and innovation. Our manufacturers are developing products to deliver coronavirus vaccines and creating the next generation of high-tech agricultural machinery to help feed the world. This fall, we recognize their contributions to our state and celebrate their inventiveness,” said Governor Ricketts.

This diversity and innovation is on display in Beatrice and Gage County, home to a wide range of manufacturing companies ranging from food products to energy, fabrication, the manufacture of lawn power equipment and more. Some of these companies are members of NGage, including:

Beatrice manufacturers are growing

Over the past two decades, manufacturing in Beatrice has increased. For example, in 2019, Exmark purchased an additional building for expansion and the Beatrice City Council approved the site for a grant from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development for $250,000. When it comes to supporting manufacturing companies, the Beatrice City Council, NGage and the state are active players - one of the advantages of locating here. 

Room for growth

There is room for more manufacturers to join the strong ecosystem already in place in Beatrice and Gage County. We have existing properties for sale and lease ranging from 1,000 to 37,000 square feet, along with shovel-ready sites. Real estate is far more affordable here than in nearby metropolitan areas like Lincoln or the Twin Cities. Still, we offer the same great midwest access to the rest of the United States and this central location is a significant advantage for the corporations located here.
