Manufacturing, National Manufacturing Day, Neapco, Precise Fabrication, Industrial Maid, Worldlawn, Events
National Manufacturing Day is Friday, October 2, 2015. To observe this day, several companies located in the Gage County Industrial Park in Beatrice are hosting tours and open houses. Those planning tours and open houses include: Neapco, Precise Fabrication along with Industrial Maid, and Worldlawn.
Manufacturing Day gives manufacturers a chance to come together to speak out about the issues they
collectively face. The most prevalent problem is a skilled labor shortage. Today’s manufacturing is not your grandfather’s manufacturing. Many people have an antiquated idea of manufacturing facilities as dirty and unpleasant places to work. Manufacturing plants now utilize modern technologies and are kept clean and environmentally safe. Modern manufacturing is highly technical, including robots, automated machinery, and ample screen technologies.
Neapco is planning an open house of their plant from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and will be facilitating group tours from Noon until 3:00 p.m. on October 2, 2015. Neapco is located at 501 W Sargent Street, Beatrice, NE. For group tours, please register in advance by calling 402.228.4288. NEAPCO was the first manufacturing company to locate in the Gage County Industrial Park. They’ve had a presence in Beatrice since 1981. Their employment numbers have nearly tripled in recent years and they recently celebrated opening a new office addition at their plant site.
Precise Fabrication, located at 2800 Ridgeview Drive in the Gage County Industrial Park, Beatrice will be hosting an open house from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on October 2. They are arranging group tours earlier in the day. Industrial Maid, LLC from Cortland, Nebraska will have a product display at Precise Fabrication. These two local companies work together in product production /finishing. Please call Precise Fabrication at 402.228.4227 to arrange group tours.
Worldlawn Power Equipment, Inc. is open for tours by appointment on October 2nd from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Please call 402.228.4255 to arrange a tour time.
NGage is working locally to help promote Manufacturing Day and to work ongoing with area business and industry in addressing their issues and needs. The State of Nebraska Department of Economic Development also issued a press statement encouraging the public to engage with manufacturing businesses in Nebraska.
“Manufacturing is a top driver in Nebraska’s economy, coming in second only to agriculture so October 2, specifically, and the entire month provides an excellent opportunity for manufacturers, educators, students and parents to celebrate here at home what will be observed nationally—MFG DAY,” said Brenda Hicks Sorensen, director of the Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED).
