When you think of walking and biking infrastructure, chances are you think of a hip, urban center like Minneapolis, Minnesota or Portland, Oregon. Think again! A recent study found that in certain rural places, people walk and bike quite a bit more often than in the city. (Check out the study here: http://ow.ly/ByUwv.)
Many local leaders and walking/biking activists understand this fact—and a growing network of trails and other infrastructure is being built to cater to the needs of rural people.
Beatrice /Gage County, Nebraska, like the rest of the state, has a strong commitment to a “walkable” lifestyle. Of particular note is the Homestead Trail, running north from Beatrice toward Lincoln. Also in the works is the trail from Beatrice down into Kansas. Learn more about our communities here: http://ow.ly/BvQcf
