College readiness doesn’t always cost a bundle

High-school enrichment programs and college summer programs can be a great way to get youngsters ready for what’s ahead in their college years. Kids get exposed to challenging college curriculum, learn about expectations, check out career choices, and in some cases even stay on their own in the dorms. How much does it cost? A lot. Some will set you back as much as $10,000. (Read more here: http://ow.ly/Bwo1k.)
Here in Gage County, Nebraska, we believe that everyone should have access to enrichment programs—no matter their income level. And that’s the idea behind the Southeast Nebraska Career Academy Partnership. Students take real college courses—for credits, and in most cases, for free. They’ll also get to visit worksites and shadow professionals in careers they’re interested in. Check out the program here: http://ow.ly/BwpVz.
