Executive Director Opportunity

The NGage Executive Director works to plan and implement a county‐wide economic development program. The Executive Director is hired and supervised by the Board of Directors and is a full time, paid professional position.

NGage is governed by a 10‐member Board of Directors comprised of public and private sector leaders. Both Gage County and the City of Beatrice have pledged significant financial support for the organization.

The Executive Director is responsible for the daily operations including the Board approved annual program of work, supervising employees, and coordinating activities and information. The primary objective of NGage is to elevate the economic ecosystem of Gage County. This objective will be met through, but not exclusively limited to: attraction of new business and industry, retention and expansion of existing business and industry, small business and entrepreneurial development, promotion and maintenance of a healthy business climate; and such additional programs as deemed viable by the NGage Board. Responsibilities may include other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinate economic development activities in Gage County;
  • Support efforts to encourage the expansion of employment within the Gage County /Beatrice area;
  • Maintain positive working relationships with existing and prospective employers, site selectors, and other organizations;
  • Serve as a liaison to local government, the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, private sector organizations, and other development groups;
  • Recruit employers to locate to the Gage County / Beatrice area;
  • Prepare proposals to recruit businesses and investment and coordinate recruitment efforts and site visits;
  • Implement marketing strategies that promote Gage County /Beatrice area;
  • Coordinate publications, newsletters, quarterly reports, advertising, social media, and webbased marketing;
  • Serve as a leader and/or member of a task force or committee;
  • Monitor legislation and take appropriate action as needed;
  • Seek grants or other funding applicable to economic development;
  • Spearhead fundraising efforts to gain municipal and business memberships in NGage;
  • Administer and manage appropriate records for grants and other funding;
  • Coordinate special projects and initiatives as identified by the NGage Board, i.e. housing study process and implementation strategies;
  • Present to city councils, county and village boards, civic groups and the general public;
  • Attend professional development workshops and conferences to keep abreast of trends and developments in the field of economic development;
  • Negotiate, coordinate, and manage professional service contracts;
  • Prepare and administer an annual operating budget;
  • Coordinate strategic planning initiatives for NGage;
  • Coordinate NGage Board meeting notices, agendas, and information;
  • Ensure the maintenance of accurate and complete records of activities, programs, and projects.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • BA/BS Degree with 3‐5 years of experience in economic development. CEcD designation, graduate of an accredited economic development program and/or advanced degree preferred.
  • Related experience and skills may be considered.
  • Experience managing a non‐profit or economic development organization.
  • Knowledge of trends, developments, and techniques in the field of economic development and non‐profit administration.
  • Advanced knowledge of technology, electronic equipment and cloud‐based software.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, financial, motivational, and communication skills.
  • And the ability to:
    • prepare and present concise and effective reports;
    • administer and interpret legislative policy;
    • design and implement an annual work plan;
    • assign, delegate, and supervise employees and volunteers;
    • take initiative, work independently, and balance multiple tasks;
    • handle confidential information;
    • problem solve and make sound decisions;
    • maintain flexibility of scheduling and time management.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Travel and meetings outside the regular business hours will be required.
  • Confidentiality is a high priority; a high level of security and sensitivity are expected.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured.
  • Director must reside in Gage County while serving in this position.

GENERAL SUMMARY

The NGage Executive Director will strive to continually improve public understanding of the purpose and functions of the organization and represent the organization in an ethical manner. Expectations are to perform the functions in this job description with the understanding that upon direction from the NGage Board some duties /functions may be altered to meet the overall needs of the organization.
