Can your business survive the “skills gap?”

Monday, July 27, 2015

When it comes to choosing a location for your business, there are many factors to consider—but first and foremost among them is the availability of skilled workers. That can be a challenge for many businesses. Although the nation as a whole continues to struggle with unemployment, manufacturers in particular are searching hard for workers with the right skills to make their businesses hum. (For analysis of this “skills gap” see this article: http://ow.ly/C46aO.)

Closing the skills gap can be done. Here in Gage County, Nebraska, we’ve taken a multi-pronged approach to building the skills of the local labor shed. It helps that we’re located just 35 miles away from Lincoln, and we draw from that labor shed for skilled workers. It's also a huge bonus that Beatrice has a Southeast Community College campus here with the other two main campuses nearby in Lincoln and Milford.  SCC is awesome in what they can assist with in customized training programs for area employers.  You can learn more about what the Gage County area has to offer here: http://ow.ly/BvQcf
