What’s for breakfast? Are you qualified to answer?

As most people sit down to breakfast, their minds are filled with the day ahead—commutes, meetings, family obligations. Few stop to consider what’s on their plate and how it got there. The fact is that the path from field to table is incredibly complicated. Not only farmers, but an entire scientific community and research history is represented in a simple plate of bacon and eggs.


Out here in Gage County, Nebraska, we tend to take this fact for granted. This is farm country—and that means it’s agricultural science country, too. With a strong extension program, University Innovation Campus, several regional degree-granting organizations, and a broad ag business base, we’re probably better qualified than anyone to talk about breakfast.
