Home-Work house is on the market

Beatrice Public Schools officials hope a program that got students out of the classroom and onto the job site will return next year after a successful construction project.
The Home-Work program allowed students to get a taste for construction building a home with area contractors. The home is now on the market for sale, and industrial technology teacher Jim West said it was a memorable experience for everyone involved.
“This has been an awesome thing for our kids,” he said. “Those kids got to touch every part of that house.”
Nine students worked with Brett Wells Construction and subcontractors on the house. Of those, West said three are working summer jobs in the construction industry and two are soon starting college to pursue careers in HVAC work.
